CONTEXT

Students need to be kept accountable

In order to enforce rules and reduce workload, schools need a way to assign detentions or other consequences in a fully automated process. Without proper automation, admins cannot stay on top of policy infringements and students aren’t kept accountable.

PROBLEM

An impractical and incomplete feature.

This feature was initially design without considering all its use cases.

This forced users to use a workaround that created a convoluted and buggy experience

GOAL

Designing a comprehensive policy creator

How can we create an experience where automated policies can be created intuitively and can be easily understood and visualized.

DESIGN 1

I redesigned this feature to automate entire school policies
  • Each policy is entered as an automation group and is assigned a specific behaviour to track.
  • After x amount of a behaviour assigned, a consequence is automatically assigned to the students.
  • Admins can customize and easily visualize the policies, counter and threshold.

DESIGN 2

Improved reporting

New reports were created or updated to ensure admins could easily track the counter and consequences for each student, streamlining management and saving time.

IMPACT

A step closer to a behaviour management system

As the business slowly pivots toward building a better behaviour management system, providing a tool to manage policies proved to be a game changer for many schools.

Time saved managing student disciplinary actions

Students following their school policies

Time saved on customer support requests
