Automating students policies

In order to enforce rules and reduce workload, schools need a way to assign detentions or other consequences in a fully automated process. Without proper automation, admins cannot stay on top of policy infringements and students aren’t kept accountable.

• The first version of this feature did not allow users to build a comprehensive policy with multiple linked consequences.
• Users created workarounds that resulted in a convoluted and buggy experience.

How can we create an experience where automated policies are intuitive to build, easy to understand, and clearly visualized?

We redesigned this feature to automate entire school policies and make them more legible:

• Each policy is created as an automation group and assigned a specific behaviour to track.
• After a set number of behaviours are assigned, a consequence is automatically applied to the student.
• Admins can customize and easily visualize the policies, counter, and threshold.

New and updated reports were created to ensure admins can easily track behaviour counters and consequences for each student, streamlining management and saving time.

As the business gradually pivots toward building a stronger behaviour management system, providing a tool to manage policies has proven to be a game changer for many schools.
