Check in & Hall Pass Kiosk

Over the past year, we noticed an emerging trend: our partner schools always asked when we’d offer a kiosk mode for common areas on campus, and many prospective schools were looking for ways to run Minga, without a 1:1 device program.

Teachers and front office staff find it time-consuming, repetitive, and disruptive to create hall passes and check students in.

Creating a self-serve feature such as a kiosk could potentially expose Minga to safety and privacy risks. Designing a reliable solution that prevents tampering or unauthorized access to private information was critical.

We designed a kiosk feature that allows students to create their own hall passes and check in without constant monitoring:

• Staff can customize their kiosk by selecting which hall passes or check-ins are available
• Student can create and end a hall pass without disrupting the class
• Students become more independent and accountable

The kiosk feature was instrumental in giving students more responsibility and autonomy, helping create a school environment where staff and students work together to build trust.
